Meet Olga and Alfie, 8.5-year-old Mini Dachshund x Fox Terriers living in Hobart,
Tasmania. Olga and Alfie had been with their original family from 6 months of
age. But due to a change in jobs and circumstances, their owners were locating
to another state and couldn’t take them. They reached out to Dachshund Rescue
Australia for help finding them the right new home. Whether it was because of
their age or because the dogs were crosses, they weren’t having much luck.
Luckily Olga and Alfie’s Dachshund Rescue Australia listing was shared with the
Dachshund Tasmania Facebook group, where the Slade’s spotted it on a Sunday
evening.
After a successful meet and greet on Monday, Olga and Alfie moved in two days
later.
They’re the perfect dachshund brother and sister
The Slade’s had given up on the idea of a pet after their son wasn’t keen. He
doesn’t like jumpy bitey puppies. So it was a match made in heaven when Olga
and Alfie were looking for their new forever home.
After the initial welcome bark at the meet and greet, Alfie rolled over with legs in
the air for a belly rub. Being older and more sedate doggies, it’s more about
treats and nap times. So, the perfect pair and the rest is history.
Their new routine
Olga and Alfie have slotted into the family with daily walks, car rides to pick the
kids up from school, visits to the pet shop for their treats and lots and lots of
cuddles and belly rubs.
