Chino (2) sunshine coast QLD
Our experience in dealing with Dachshund Rescue Australia was very positive from our first interaction.
We first sighted “Chino” a 2 year old Dachshund, who was available for adoption, in November. We made enquiries expressing interest and requested information on Chino’s situation and medical history. Andrea provided everything we needed to know, for instance characteristics and behaviour patterns about the Dachshund breed. She quickly reassured us that Chino was a wonderful dog, but was honest enough to advise he was a little nervous and temperamental and thus would need special attention. He was from a very good family, who loved him dearly, however they were busy with young children and felt he would be happier with an older couple who could devote more time to him.
We were still very keen to learn more and meet Chino, so we had a catch up in a local park, on the Sunday morning. As predicted Chino was nervous and reserved, however we agreed to the him home with us on a two week trial hopeful that he would quickly settle in. For the first couple of days, he gave us a very wide berth, keeping his distance, and mostly avoiding us.
We gave him his space, and slowly encouraged to come to us using treats and walks which went a fair way to gaining his trust. By Tuesday evening he was sitting on our laps demanding a cuddle and a belly rub. We are now two and a half weeks down the track and he has settled in remarkably well. It really is wonderful to see this delightful little dog, feeling so happy and loved. We are both fully committed to this little fellow and are completely in love.
Many thanks to Andrea from Dachshund Rescue, and also to Chino’s original family for taking care and training him sufficiently.
We are very happy new owners
