Meet Oscar – Your Loyal Little Shadow 🐾

Hi there! My name is Oscar, and playtime is my favourite game! I’ve just turned 2 on April 16 🎉 Maybe we could celebrate together with a belated birthday party where I get to be the star of the show?

I’m a sweet, loving little guy who just wants to be by your side. Whether it’s going for walks, playing with my toys, enjoying cuddles, or relaxing on the couch (if I’m allowed 😉), I’m happiest when I’m with my people.

I would thrive in a calm, quiet home where I can receive lots of love and attention. I can be a little sensitive and anxious at times, so I’m looking for someone patient and understanding who can help me feel safe and secure. A stay-at-home worker would be perfect, but really anyone with plenty of time and affection to give would be my ideal match.

Like most dachshunds, I’ve recently discovered my voice — so yes, I do enjoy a good bark now and then! But I promise I make up for it with my loving nature and adorable personality.

The good news? I’m fully toilet trained, so there’ll be no messes to worry about! I also LOVE my food (treats included, of course 😋).

Oscar is still a little confused at times, but he’s improving every single day. Since coming into foster care, he has come a long way. He’s gone from howling to barking at everything, and with patience and consistency, there’s already been huge improvement.

He’s learning what it means to be part of a pack and understanding his place within it. He’s not food aggressive at all — in fact, he absolutely loves mealtime and treats! He also adores toys and will happily pull every toy out of the toybox just to find his favourite one.

Going for walks is probably his favourite thing in the world, and he walks beautifully on lead. While he’s much more relaxed now, he still has a little way to go, so he’ll need a human who’s willing to continue the wonderful progress he’s made.

Oscar does tend to attach himself closely to his favourite person — usually the one who spends the most time with him — but he also enjoys time with family members and visitors. He plays happily with his doggy friends too, although usually when he decides it’s time to play!
