Gus (3 years 7 months) Mini Smooth – Spring Farm NSW
Gus's new owner Grant was so keen to adopt him that he travelled interstate to pick him up. Gus enjoyed the journey to to his new home and has transitioned really well into his life with a doggy mate Chopper becoming instant mutual pals when they met. He goes straight to sleep in his bed in a pen and lays there quietly until Grant gets up in the morning. He has become great mates with the Grant's other dog a kelpie and has made himself at home on the couch at tv time. Grant works from home most of the time and, when he does have to go out, turns on the doggy cam to make sure that his two doggy mates are ok. Grant writes.
"Gus is a ripper little buddy- I'm very fortunate to have had the honour to adopt him. He has slotted into my lifestyle so well and our daily walks are so beneficial for us both."
Breeze Riverstone N.S.W
Breeze has two beautiful brothers to keep her company. They have been very welcoming. Where you see one the others are sure to follow.
She is enjoying daily walks and generally being part of a family, and all that goes with it. She still has a keen ear on any fridge activity. We are all thrilled for this little pocket rocket.
Maggy, 1yr, Newcastle Region, NSW
Sweet Miss Maggy came into DRA and is a reminder as to how important it is for our dachshunds to be desexed. Little did we know that she was in the early stages of pregnancy to her half brother from her previous home. At just on 12months of age, the vet felt that it was a high risk pregnancy given her age and the close sibling relationship of the father, so the sad but essential decision was made to desex and terminate at the same time. Maggy is now living the dachie dream life, she has an older brother dachshund in her new home, and two amazing pawrents that have fallen in love with her completely. She loves going and watching the local soccer games and being included in all family activities now. We think that she is being spoilt just a smidge but boy does she deserve it! Thankyou for choosing to adopt...
Winnie and Blu (2years 6 months and 2 Years 3months) Smooth Mini Choc Dapple & Choc -Umina NSW
Winnie and Blu were not getting enough attention in their previous home due to their owners increased work and family commitments, but all that has now changed where they are now much loved and cherished members of their new family. They are living the dachsie dream with a big backyard to sniff out sunny spots and of course taken on regular walks. Thanks to a wonderful family who decided to take on these two little ones who needed a new home.
Rusty (8) Standard Smooth – Maddingley Vic
Rusty was rescued from a breeder by a lady who found that she couldn't give him the affection, and attention he craved. He desired companionship and the experience of shared adventures, be it a walk in the park or a cozy movie night at home. He has found his perfect home with his new owner who tells us that Rusty is a big sweet heart. He loves going for walks and cuddling on the couch. They are so glad that they adopted an older dog and have been given the opportunity to spoil him in this stage of his life.
Ms Wheenie (9 months) Red Mini Smooth – Jamisontown NSW
Ms Wheenie now known as Queenie came to us with severe separation anxiety, needing almost constant companionship. After a false start, she was rescued by Kylie who came to pick her up armed with towels to combat her car sickness. She has settled into her new family home now where she is being given the close companionship she craves from her Mum, and doggy companions Winston and Jez.
Rolly – Sydney
Rolly found herself in need of a home where her abundant energy could have some company, while still having lots of snuggle & sun time.
Bek & JJ were looking for some company to help Wombat (2), who after recently losing his older brother was lonely... and the opportunity to adopt Rolly really looked like a great fit. Following a trip up to Sydney for a first meetup, both Rolly & Wombat were playing, wrestling, chasing and having a wonderful time from the moment they met. Moving from an apartment to a house has had a few obstacles to challenge Rolly, and while ramps, doggy doors & a backyard are new adventures – she has relished the challenges with her new friend and mentor. Walks around the local oval have also taken some time to adjust to, but now that is a highlight of the day and approached with relentless energy.
Both Rolly & Wombat are loving their time together and finally having someone to run around the house chasing, wrestling, playing tug-of-war, before being able to relax on the deck & in the sunroom to soak up some rays. By the end of the day, they’re both ready to collapse on the couch in the evening for some lovely snuggles. It’s been a wonderful fresh start for Rolly, and just the company Wombat needed too. It’s been a great outcome and the whole family are loving having her in their pack. Bek, JJ and family are thankful to the previous owner for the wonderful support and opportunity to adopt Rolly and make sure she was settled in just fine.
