Biggie : MacKay
It was only 18 hour round trip down to mackay to pick out little Bean..
"Better be bloody worth it" grumbled Bert from the back seat. Fast forward 2 weeks on and now it's all on: The Bean adventures in the rainforrest, swims in the creeks, tells all the big dogs off, and has generally taken over our bed, our couches and our hearts. Bert has gone into Big Bruvva overdrive - pretty much every thing is back to its chaotic shambles. We like to think Hank would approve. Andrea, you Super Star. Love Annis, Bert and Bean.
The Boiz plan their next naughtiness.
* Special shout out to this extraordinary lady that drove the distance for pick up, not wanting to add to any more anxiousness Bean would / could be experiencing. Everyone at D.R.A are wrapped you have a new family member. thank you x Andie
Scott – Sydney
The decision to rehome Scott was not an easy one and it was with many tears that he was handed over to his new owners whilst on his meet and greet. Scott, being up for this new adventure promptly sat on the lap of his new family member on the the drive home and by mid afternoon he was happily playing with his toys in the lounge room. Scotty's settling in period could not have gone better. His social behaviour is starting to improve everyday whilst out on his walks and yesterday, being the election, he behaved beautifully meeting many people and their dogs. Scott is really enjoying his new garden and when he's not lazing arund in the sun, he loves to zoom around ther perimeter at top speed.
Gypsy (3) southern nsw
Gypsy is a tiny sweet girl. Her family was unable to provide the home she required. On land she was a devil and loved getting out on adventures. They knew this wouldn't end well. Gypsy has been adopted by a retired couple who had previously owned a dachshund. Patricia and Ron love having a dog in their home again. Gypsy is a real snuggler and has found her forever home. It's very rewarding to see Gypsy transition to her new home with ease, she has a bright future. Lots of gratitude goes to owners adopting dachshunds in need like gypsy.
Bruno, 2: Bimbimbie Southern N.S.W
Bruno’s story so far…
He has settled in and we now can not imagine life without him. He has his own little quirks as do his brothers.
Toilet training was mastered quite quickly; I am now the crazy lady out at 6 in the morning for our daily walks to beat the heat.
We have taken him on holidays and he enjoyed the beach. Loves fresh prawns (as do his brothers).
Loves the car; loves riding on the lawn mower with my husband, chasing the ball, sleeping in the bed.
What can I say we love him to bits.
Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to adopt him.
Loui – QLD
How amazing that Loui's new owners not only adopted this gorgeous two year old boy from DRA but also a few days later adopted beautiful Sabrina, a 4 year old Sheltie who had sadly been neglected. Loui being in his new home just a little bit longer and being the terror that dachshunds can be is lucky that Sabrina is so gentle and patient with him 🙂 It didn't take long for Loui and Sabrina to become comfortable in each others company and these two little souls have now come to realise that they need each other more than they could ever know. Loui to help Sabrina settle in and enjoy her new life and Sabrina to help Loui overcome his separation anxiety. Loui needs some extra special training when out on his walks but he is a smart little boy and eager to please so we are confident that this will improve in no time. Thank you to his new owners for adopting two special dogs into their home and ensuring they have the best lives they can.
Frankie – WA
Gorgeous Frankie is 10 years old and came to DRA as his owner needed to go into a nursing home. Frankie was placed in foster care and it was discovered that he is quite a vocal boy who suffered from separation anxiety when left for periods at a time. He now lives in lovely home where he has a dachshund sister Casey (also rehomed by DRA). Frankie doesn't suffer separation anxiety any more but he's still quite vocal. We've since discovered that this is because he's completely deaf so he needs to ensure that everyone knows when it's dinner time!
