Success Stories

Penny & Henry

What a change these two little munchkins have had! We struggled to find the 'right' home for these two little golden oldies. We knew it had to be with a person that has a soft spot for the seniors....and their little miracle occurred when Lisa and her family put up their hands. These two are now enjoying living inside the house and being included in the family activities. They have the freedom to come and go in and out through the doggie door, and have their choice of laps to snuggle up on when feeling a bit smoochy. Penny loves rolling around out on the grass and chasing away the magpies from the bird bath.....whilst Henry is just a little darling that they have all fallen in love with.

Clair – Kew N.S.W

Clair has had two false starts in life. But she has found her forever home. Nerida and her husband tell me that anyone would think that she has been with them forever. Her grandkids visit often and they get along like a house on fire. Now the grandkids skype all the time... Nerida is pretty sure its not for them.. haha No problems settling in and now a much loved member of their family.

Hugh – Dromana VIC

Little Hugh ‘s sweet nature and excellent training are a credit to his previous owners. He came from a devoted family who had to make the difficult decision to rehome him. We have promised to continue the love and care he has always been given. From day one Hugh has been a delight, settling into his strange household of new routines and unfamiliar faces with such ease. An affectionate, healthy, energetic, trusting, and obedient six year old, his favourite activities are tug-o-war, sunbaking , fly catching , snuggles & cuddles, running & barking, fast paced long walks and after all that …burrowing under a pile of blankets for a well earned nap. Hugh is now a wonderful companion to our 14 ¾ year old Monty who just lost his (birth) brother Reuben in June 2022. Monty was suffering severe separation anxiety and was as miserable as a little dog can be. We were all terribly sad, however Hugh has cast a magic spell and brought us positive energy, laughter and joy …voila! …the black cloud of grief has lifted. Monty now has a spring in his step – he watches Hugh play and attempts to copy him, playing chasey and chewing toys even though he is toothless! It is heart warming. Monty hasn’t been this energetic in a long time. Encouraged by his buddy he sees there are still tricks to be learned and mischief to be made. There has been no animosity whatsoever between the two. You could not wish for more . We count our lucky stars that we have been able to welcome this adorable new family member and lavish him with all the love and devotion he expects! Special thanks to Andrea who handled our application, offering practical advice, reassurance and checking in for updates during the trial period. Andrea’s commitment to her volunteer role is admirable and we are so grateful to her and for the exceptional service that Dachshund Rescue provide. Hugh is our little ray of sunshine. We cherish him.

Honey – NSW

Gorgeous little Honey with her sweet and loving nature is thriving in her new home. After her arrival she soon started to come out of her shell and was ready to explore. Together with her new siblings Gary (who she adores) and Pippen (who is the boss) she has enjoyed going to the beach and being part of an active and loving family. Honey is enjoying lots of attention and receives plenty of cuddles and snuggles from her new family who love her to bits.

Frankie: Bittern, VIC

We look forward to checking in, in weeks and months to come. Thank you S & S you indeed are a perfect home for this little girl.

Macy – NSW

Macy was used to being the centre of attention by her previous owners, and once their circumstances changed she wasnt happy having to share the limelight. DRA were able to find her a home where she has swapped country life for a sea change and she is thriving with her new owners where once again she is an only dog and has the full attention and love of her new owners. Macy loves going for her daily walks along the waterfront and then retiring for a snooze afterwards. What a life for a lovely little dachshund! Her new owners are committed to
