Zephyr – NSW
Zephyr is a gorgeous little boy who is now very settled into his new home. Zephyr came into DRA after we were contacted by the lovely people at the Hunter Valley Animal Shelter. At quick notice he was collected by DRA Foster carer who took wonderful care of Zephyr providing him with home made dinners, lots of reassuring cuddles, trips to Bunnings and in return Zephyr rewarded her with plenty of loving nose kisses. Zephyr met his new owners and since his arrival has managed to worm his way into their hearts. Zephyr enjoys his daily walks and loves to meet and greet all who stop to talk to him. Thank you to all who helped Zephyr throughout his rehoming journey.
Penelope – WA
Thank you so much to you and Jo for coordinating Penelope and we are so happy to have her, she has settled in so much and has become such an amazing little doggie.
Marlee NSW
Marlee was a reluctant rehoming but she was starting to stress at the changes happening in her home which was making her anxious, protective and a little snappy. She took to her new owner at first meeting even jumping into the car before relaxing on the drive home to her new life. Since her arrival Marlee has been aquainting herself and making friends with her extended family and getting used to the new routine. Marlee enjoys her weekend outings to local coffee shops and meandering around the markets.
Alfie and Olga – Hobart – TAS
Meet Olga and Alfie, 8.5-year-old Mini Dachshund x Fox Terriers living in Hobart,
Tasmania. Olga and Alfie had been with their original family from 6 months of
age. But due to a change in jobs and circumstances, their owners were locating
to another state and couldn’t take them. They reached out to Dachshund Rescue
Australia for help finding them the right new home. Whether it was because of
their age or because the dogs were crosses, they weren’t having much luck.
Luckily Olga and Alfie’s Dachshund Rescue Australia listing was shared with the
Dachshund Tasmania Facebook group, where the Slade’s spotted it on a Sunday
evening.
After a successful meet and greet on Monday, Olga and Alfie moved in two days
later.
They’re the perfect dachshund brother and sister
The Slade’s had given up on the idea of a pet after their son wasn’t keen. He
doesn’t like jumpy bitey puppies. So it was a match made in heaven when Olga
and Alfie were looking for their new forever home.
After the initial welcome bark at the meet and greet, Alfie rolled over with legs in
the air for a belly rub. Being older and more sedate doggies, it’s more about
treats and nap times. So, the perfect pair and the rest is history.
Their new routine
Olga and Alfie have slotted into the family with daily walks, car rides to pick the
kids up from school, visits to the pet shop for their treats and lots and lots of
cuddles and belly rubs.
Winston – Qld
7 month old WInston had not had the best start to his puppy life, where he was kept in a room on his own while his new owners worked. He then developed severe separation anxiety and was given up by his owners three times, before the last call was made by the vet who said no more. Poor Winston, puppies can't be expected to leave their Mum and litter mates and find themselves in a room on their own while owners work. However, it is becoming increasingly common that the dogs' interests and well being are not taken into account.
Winston has now got a new best friend in the form of another dachshund, Paul. He and Paul do the occasional day at doggy daycare where he gets to play with other dogs and the social intereaction that they so badly need. When he and Paul are at home, they chase each other around the garden using up all their energy before finally finding a lap to collapse in. He is "an absolute delight, a dear little dachshund and part of the family".
Charlie: Heddon Greta N.S.W
Charlie, is such a good boy. He sleeps in his crate wonderful on his walks. He adores his older paw-sister Sammy. Follows her around everywhere. He has quickly found an extra lap to ensure he gets plenty of cuddles. Thank you Annie
Hugo 4 (sydney)
Hugo's family were relocating overseas for work. Working long hours in a new country they thought it was selfish for Hugo to be by himself.
DRA were enlisted to find Hugo his forever home. Beverley's senior rescue Buddy had sadly passed. We are very happy Hugo has joined Bev in her lovely village. Hugo has some little doggy pals in the village. He has made himself at home since day one. Even taken over the bed. Beverley had some challenging weeks working through some separation anxiety. Now he is a much settled little man. Hugo has many admirers on his daily walks. His former family are so grateful to see and receive updates on Hugo's happiness.
Ralph Gold Coast, QLD
Ralph's previous owners wanted the absolute best for Ralph and a couple of things that werent negotiable were a brother or sister to play with, owners that were home a great part of the day and an interesting back yard for him to poke around in. Tick, Tick, Tick! Ralph is loving his new life where his little sister is a cocker spaniel that just adores him. They play up a storm, from morning to night and they love playing chasey around the house with different toys and Ralph struts his stuff when out walking with Polly. His new owners report that they just adore him and they cant believe how well he has settled in to their homelife.
Clover – Maitland (NSW)
Clover came into DRA for rehoming as she was showing signs of jelousy and resource guarding. By placing her in her new home where she is the one and only recipiant of attention, snuggles and cuddles, Clover is in her element. Clover spends her days in the company of her devoted human companions and is able to walk freely in and out of the house to lie in the sunshine. Clover loves people and always likes to welcome them to the home with a wagging tail and plenty of barking!
