When we brought the girls home, they were not nervous even in the car, they adjusted phenomenally, like I was their first mummy. When my two kids first met Rosi and Coco they became fast friends immediately bonding with the dogs. They love walks or runs in the parks with the kids. Adopting Coco & Rosi was one of the best decisions ever made :

Mabel came to DRA as she was not getting the attention that she deserved. Mabel has now been rehomed to a loving home where she is a VIP member of the family who receives plenty of love and cuddles.

Sassie and Snickers have delivered on their promise to provide affection and companionship to their new owners. Living in a country town suits the pair well with leisurely walks being part of their daily routine. There is always a welcoming lap to sit on and the comfort of a warm, cosy bed on cold days. Sassie and Snickers have met their canine cousins,Lulu the dachshund and a bold boy staffy. These regular visitors add interest to family weekends, while giving Sassie the opportunity to rule the roost. Best of all once the canine cousins go home, Sassie and Snickers have their adoring mum and dad all to themselves.

Handsome and elegant Zimmy, once a city slicker, is now relishing country life by the sea. At first the shrieking and wheeling galahs flying overhead were a cause for great concern, but now Zimmy is unperturbed by the local wildlife, including koalas. However like all dachshunds, Zimmy is territorial and feels he must protect his new home and family from marauding birds. The ensuing bark fest and bird chase is a bonding activity enjoyed with his senior canine brother. Galahs, Rosellas, parakeets begone! Zimmy is adapting to his changed lifestyle where long walks by the river and ocean are a daily event. The smells are so enticing that Zimmy must sniff every grassy patch and object. Zimmy thinks his new family are wonderful. While Peter, his retired dad, remains the ‘go to’ person, Zimmy shows genuine delight when mum Tracey comes home from work or when grandchildren visit. Life is good.

Beautiful Benji was adored by his family. Unfortunately with a young family his owners felt Benji wasn't getting the time he deserved. He is now enjoying living with his best mate Smudge the resident Greyhound. These two lounge lizards have a very comfortable life. Benji has enjoyed trips out on the Scooter seeing the sites. A very social well adjusted dachshund. We continue to get updates on Benji and thank his new family for welcoming him.

Perfection in Imperfection. Lil Walter came into our world after an unexpected handicap start. A broken back ???? Having dealt with IVDD & back issues, it felt like a gamble taking on a daxie pup who had already been dealt a spinal blow. However, we were assured he had healed and that his injury would unlikely pose a later problem. Little did we know that this little guy’s injury would prove to be his superpower. He joined our little pack and slipped right in. Confident and at ease with the big kids, he nestled right in and stole our collective hearts. He’s a gentle and playful spirit with a confident and independent streak. They say 3 is the most stable structure. We’re so happy with our 3 ????.

Daisy came in as an urgent rehoming. We had a foster family drive down to collect her. They did a wonderful job, taking Daisy out walking and follow up house/toilet training. We thank them for the excellent care they gave Daisy whilst giving us lots of feedback on her mannerisms and potentially what to look for in a future home. Daisy now has joined her new home and sister Poppy. Poppy is a sweet gentle girl and is enjoying having a companion dachshund to keep her company and sunbake with.Daisy is a very energetic dog, she has lots of energy and love to give. We look forward to seeing her progress in her new home.
