Success Stories

Ruby (6) Newcastle, NSW

Ruby is just loving living her new life with her new doggie pal Floyd and exploring her country property. She has become quite a social little dachshund, and her days are now spent going to the beach and she even went along to the Anzac Day dawn service to pay her respects. Thanks to special people like Ruby's new owner who are committed to making sure that she is able to live her best possible life!

Bambi (NSW)

Bambi's presence inside the home was causing the baby's allergies to flare up and understandably she wasn't coping very well being left outside on her own. On arrival at her new home, she was a little anxious and snappy but quickly bonded with the family where there is always a lap to sit on and someone to give her cuddles. Bambi has a new dachshund brother called Toby and they are never far from each other. Bambi and Toby love going on their twice daily walks and playing chasey around the house.

Snoop and Daisy (QLD) marsden area

Snoop and Daisy found themselves in need of a new home. Their owner relocated for work and didn't have the time to give them. Luckily for the girls after being foster care. A wonderful home came in from South Australia. They now have a large backyard and a family with lots of time and commitment to get them on the right track. Snoop and Daisy are very lucky to live in such a nice spot in Adelaide. DRA are very grateful for Karen and her family for the attention and care they have given Snoop and Daisy.

Flynn (NSW)

King's outlook is extremely rewarding. An outdoor life to now been welcomed inside. His adopter family loves having a dachshund like King. DRA has seen to his vet work, his new family have taken him on lots of trips and exploring the neighbourhood. A favourite spot is to the beach, this once lonely dachshund now has a life filled with enrichment.

connie and cleo toowoomba QLD

Connie and Cleo are sweet young girls. Their owner found herself with a busy young family It's hard to walk the girls and have them indoors. The search was on to match them to a home that would provide everything they needed. Lucky for Connie and Cleo they have an instant family with a dachshund brother for company. The girls are extremely close and were of great comfort to each other settling into their new home.

Bowie (NSW)

Bowie's life has been transformed. Previously an outdoor dog sleeping in the garden shed. Bowie now has a sister Rosie to keep him company. DRA and Bowie are extremely grateful for people adopting dachshunds. Bowie has a lot of love to give, it's a pleasure seeing him welcomed in his new home.
Ava rehomed

Ava (Sydney)

Ava is now living her best life. We are very grateful to a lovely vet nurse that stepped in and advocated for Ava. She has now been rehomed to a very kind family in Canberra. Ava will probably always be an anxious girl, we expect from past trauma. As a young dachshund she has a lot of living to do. We wish Ava and her family all the best making milestones together.

Charlie (NSW)

We would like to share our family’s joy at being fortunate enough to adopt gorgeous Charlie. Our family had been wanting to welcome another Dachshund into our home to join our beautiful resident Dachshund Lulu. We had been following DRA for quite some time when we came across gorgeous Charlie. We read and understood his needs and hope for a loving family and we felt that we could offer him the home he was looking for. It was a very long car ride to pick up Charlie and meet his lovely mum, and spend some time with her. From the first night we had Charlie he has been the most beautiful and affectionate Dachshund, its like he has been with us all along! We introduced him to our resident dachshund Lulu and they have bonded well. They love having a run around the pool yard together, walking along our grassy bike tracks each day and snuggling on the couch. Lulu gave a few short barks when Charlie arrived to our home, now they sit together and love hanging out with me as I work flexibly from home. Charlie is an absolute snuggle bug, he just loves nothing more that snuggling up with you or just being a wonderful companion to all in our family. He makes us laugh as when Lulu and he are rewarded with a nice treat, Lulu will wait and perhaps give a funny growl , however Charlie will sit there very politely and wait and then give a lovely tail wag to say thank you!! He is definitely a very polite and patient Dachshund! Charlie loves spending time with our family and is like my little shadow most of the time and gets included in just about all that we do. He has already enjoyed a trip to our beach property and will always enjoy a trip there during school holidays and Christmas! Charlie has indeed become such a wonderful addition to our family and we look forward to making his life as compete and enjoyable as we can as he has already given us more joy and kindness that we could have hoped for. We just adore him… Thankyou so much to DRA for allowing Charlie to become a part of our family!

Archie (NSW)

Archie was a young puppy left at home with no company for long days making him sad. After attending to all his veterinary work, DRA contacted a family who have a female dachshund, Juno, who is of a similar age. They thought Archie would be a great fit and they then did an 18 hour road trip to go and meet Archie and take him home where he recently celebrated his first birthday. Archie’s days are no longer lonely, but are full of fun, play, walkies and he has also recently attended a doggy group in his area. His face is full of joy, which we think says it all.
