Wolfgang (ACT)

Wolfgang has found his perfect forever home! His new family cherishes his gentle nature and ensures he gets plenty of daily walks and one-on-one cuddle time. Wolfgang now has a cozy spot on the couch for lap time and endless pats, fulfilling his love for human attention. His new home includes children who adore him, offering him the affection and playtime he thrives on. While he’s not a fan of ball games, his family enjoys playing chase with him in their spacious yard, where he can run and explore freely. Grooming sessions are a highlight, as Wolfgang loves being pampered. Car rides are now more manageable with a family that understands his needs, and he always perks up at his favorite destinations like the park or groomer. Wolfgang also has the freedom to choose between indoor and outdoor naps, depending on the weather. Surrounded by love and understanding, Wolfgang is living his best life!

Polly, 5yrs, Brisbane

We adopted our precious lil blind girl Polly recently. We had been wanting to give a furever home to a special needs dachshund and Polly had caught both mine and my husband's attention. We made the 3hr trip to meet Polly and her previous owner at a park. I think with Polly it was love at first pat, we clicked straightaway. Having lost her human mum that she was super attached to, Polly was looking for someone to fill that void. Polly and I spent quite awhile wandering around the park and getting to know each other. I was totally obsessed with this dog and couldn't wait for her to come home with us and meet her new fur siblings. On our trip home Polly cuddled into my arm and napped most of the way (except for toilet stops and a few snacks), she is the perfect little travel buddy. After slow introduction, Polly's new fur siblings took her on an adventure to sniff all things outdoors and she had so much fun bounding like a little deer through the grass. Her fur siblings have taken it upon themselves to start guiding Polly so she doesn't run into things, but her vision impairment doesn't stop this girl, she just takes it all in her stride. We had a bit of a test set for us early in the week, we were hit by a bad thunderstorm, which resulted in terrified dachshunds snuggling together in our bed while we waited for the storm to pass, thankfully they helped each other through it and it was a fairly smooth process. We have fallen in love with this precious girl and are extremely happy to now have her as part of our family. As terrifying as taking on a fully blind dog can be, it is also a very rewarding thing and I have been super grateful for my vet nurse training and experience which prepared me for our new life with Polly. We are so very thankful to the wonderful people at Dachshund Rescue Australia for giving us the opportunity to welcome Polly into our family and for all their support throughout the process.

David (1) NSW

David Now dubbed Davo. Landing like dumbo with his over sized ears into wolf creek boot camp he thought he was done for. 2wks passed and he and boot camp buddy Arlo had been talking & Arlo (also a DRA boy) explained how much of a sucker the boot camp Marshall was for boys like him so he milked his charm and became a foster fail! Davo & Arlo have bonded well as brothers despite Arlo telling the Marshall he would leave home if she bought another to camp to stay. Davo enjoys his walks exploring the bush, playing with toys and tug o war with Arlo, but most of All he loves his cuddles and the tales of what adventures are to come.

Alfred (5) QLD

It's been 3 weeks of Alfie love ❤️ . He is an absolute delight and the cutest little low rider. He loves car rides, food, walks, food, sunbaking, food, snuggles, and food. He also loves his wolfie x little bro. Best of all, he loves us too. Thank you DRA for matching us with our perfect match.

Coco (2) Ballarat VIC

From the day Coco relocated to Canberra she has fit into our family seamlessly! It took a few days for Coco and our dachshund, Alyssa, to become besties, but now they’re inseparable and spend all of their time wrestling, giving each other kisses, napping, and getting up to mischief. Coco absolutely loves going on long walks in the Bush Capital and is always smiling and getting attention from strangers. It’s been a noisy transition from one snag to two, but it’s been so much fun watching the ‘Wien Queens‘ bond and it’s clear Coco loves her new life!

George (7) Laguna N.S.W

Meeting George, was love at first sight. His playful demeanor and charming personality won us over. George has a unique passion - lizard hunting! Every sunny day, he eagerly awaits backyard adventures, sniffing with glee. Although he rarely catches his prey, his joy is contagious. As evening falls, George winds down, curling up in his bed at 6 pm sharp, softly snoring within minutes. His peaceful slumber, marked by contented sighs and twitching paws, confirms George has found his forever home, where his lizard-loving heart thrives.
