❣️We adopted ‘Anakin’ (now called Pablo) from Dachshund Rescue Australia in February. He is 6 years old and has had the IVDD surgery and made a full recovery. We were expecting a slow transition for him as he got to know us and settle in but from the moment we took him in the car he was calm and settled and enjoyed a thorough exploration of the house and garden. From night 1 he was a great sleeper, sleeping in his new dog bed quietly and only stirring in the morning when we did. He already has a strong bond with us and he is a wonderful fit for our family. We work from home and he enjoys sitting in our lap while we work and lots of cuddles on the couch as well as walks around the neighbourhood and exploring the backyard. Don’t be afraid to adopt an older dog, Pablo is amazing and already house trained and well mannered. Charlie – 3 years – Casino NSW

Charlie is the dog we never knew we needed! He came into our lives and hearts and fit right in like he’d always been here. He brings so much fun into our home, he’s definitely a strong character and very cheeky but we wouldn’t have him any other way. We are a single parent family, mum and 2 kids and lucky for Charlie we have lots of time and attention between the three of us (for example we recently worked out we have all been secretly sharing our snacks with him and have had to curb it… to his dismay!) Dachshunds often need to be the star of the show and although we’ve found a bit of patience is needed to help navigate boundaries and their big personalities, the pay off is worth the effort. We genuinely can’t imagine our life without Charlie, and I’m so grateful for the incredible support we’ve received from Dachshund rescue and his lovely previous family to help make it a smooth transition.
