Reggie & Ronnie Reservoir Vic
Reggie settled a little quicker than Ronnie. Ronnie took on lead protector and wanted to explore his new surroundings and couldn't decide if he wanted to be an inside or outside doggie. But over the period of a week Ronnie decided both should sleep inside. How wonderful that the adopters gave them space to let them decide. Now eating, playing, running, chasing the sun all the normal activities of two adorable Dachshunds. They have appreciated the routine life that the adopters provided. This in itself allowed them time to settle in without worry. The adopters cannot believe their luck, it's as if they have always lived with them and couldn't imagine a life without them. Thank you so much.
Rosie (16 months) Southern Tablelands NSW
After the sudden and heartbreaking loss of our beloved Tiggy in early January, our home felt incredibly quiet. Tiggy was a much-loved Dachshund Rescue Australia (DRA) dog, and losing him so unexpectedly left a huge hole in our hearts.
We weren’t planning on welcoming another dog until after our six-week trip, but then we saw Rosie. As soon as we read her profile, we just knew. Sometimes the right dog finds you when you need them most.
We were incredibly lucky that my aunt was already coming to house and pet sit, which meant Rosie wouldn’t need to be moved around again. So we made the 6½-hour drive to Goulburn to bring her home in person – a drive that was more than worth it.
From day one, Rosie has fit seamlessly into our home. She bonded instantly with Chester, our 11-year-old cat, and quickly made herself part of the family. She is resilient, bubbly and endlessly patient, with the biggest heart. All she wants is to love and be loved.
Her days are spent rotating between her many comfy beds, curling up on a lap, or sunbaking happily in the yard. She loves wearing the outfits I make for her and is always keen to come along on adventures with us. It’s now impossible to imagine life without her.
Dachshund Rescue Australia have been absolutely amazing throughout the entire process, and we’re so grateful for the care, support and dedication they show to every dog they help. Rosie has brought joy, comfort and laughter back into our home, and we feel incredibly lucky to call her ours.

Henry Has Found His Happy Ever After! 🐾
We’re thrilled to share that Henry the dachshund has found his perfect forever home—and what a beautiful match it is!
When Henry first came to us, we knew he needed a very special someone to understand his sensitive soul and give him the calm, loving environment he deserved. His new family saw past his initial nerves and fell in love with the sweet, affectionate boy underneath.
Henry has now settled into a home where he is not only cherished but truly understood. With a quiet routine, gentle humans, and lots of sunny garden spots to explore, Henry has blossomed. His days are filled with love, cuddles, and peaceful naps in all his favourite spots—and his tail hasn’t stopped wagging since.
We are so grateful to his new family for opening their hearts to Henry and giving him the life he was always meant to have.
Enjoy every moment, sweet Henry... you’re home now 💛
