Success Stories

Charlotte – Sydney

Charlotte managed to make her new family fall in love with her from the very first meet up. She took a couple of days to get used to being in a busier household which involves getting up up at 5.30am. Charlotte supervises the sports drop offs in the morning accompanying mum in the car and then heads home for her much needed nap before doing the afternoon pick up and activities. Charlotte is working hard towards being friendlier towards other dogs when out and about but is getting better every day. Charlotte is a happy and friendly little girl and enjoys being with the kids and their friends. Her new family can't believe she has only been with them a few days and that she's now become such a beautiful addition to the family.

Wilson and Winston

My successfully re-homed story is coming very soon

Ernie – VIC

Ernie is one very lucky pooch. He was brought up with beautiful manners, all the foundations of a perfect little boy. Unfortunately Ernie didn't take to well to an extreme change of home life and found himself being rehomed. In coming, the most beautiful adoptive Mum Dianne. Dianne just recently lost her beloved husband. Ernie has filled her home with fun and all sort of shenanigans. He has settled in wonderfully and all those well mannered traits are again on show. If Dianne has guests over Ernie presents his ball for them to throw and him to fetch. It is customary to snuggle on the couch on his own blanket and at night he sleeps in his bed right next to Dianne's bed. She again feels safe in her home. Ernie is her personal alarm system. He truly is Master of the house. It was a privilege to be the re homer with this union. Dianne is grateful to D.R.A her house is noisy again.

Crumpet, 4yrs 8mths, NSW (Newcastle region)

Little Crumpet was adopted into a work from home family and we think all his wishes have come true! Crumpet was struggling being left alone previously, and he now has his buddy Beans for companionsip as well. Crumpets new owners have continued his long walks on the beach which he loves and his new owners have commented on how he has boundless energy and is keeping them fit too. Thank you to Crumpets new owners for choosing to adopt!

Alfie – WA

Poor Alfie came into DRA with some personality issues that deemed him to be a somewhat aggressive dachshund. We are pleased to say that we have now successfully adopted Alfie with full disclosure to a wonderful couple who were prepared to help Afie. Like most dogs, training needs to start from puppyhood and so going back to basics with a strong headed dachshund is not an easy task. We are forever thankful that Alfie is with experienced owners who have dedicated their time in helping him to be the best version of himself.

Dash, 11yrs.

Dash has been adopted into a home that run a huge farm, and oh boy is he enjoying those wide open spaces! Dash now has the company of two older small dogs, which he is thoroughly enjoying being around. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue dachshund.

Oscar – QLD

We love our dachshunds!!! Heidi our darling girl, also a rescue, joined our family 3 years ago and our newest family member Oscar 2 weeks ago. He is such a beautiful little boy. Loves cuddles, games, the toy basket, Heidi and in such a short amount of time, he loves us both. How could we not love that little face. Thankyou to Andrea and wonderful team at Dachshund Rescue. You are truly wonderful people. Most importantly thankyou Andrea for choosing us to be Oscars forever family. Rhonda Ps we asked Cameron where Oscar slept when he was with Graeme. He said in Oscars bed in the lounge or in Oscars bed in bedroom. He has not looked at his bed once lol. From the first night he has slept between our pillows. Will have to become a little more stricter soon. Maybe. x

Biggie : MacKay

It was only 18 hour round trip down to mackay to pick out little Bean.. "Better be bloody worth it" grumbled Bert from the back seat. Fast forward 2 weeks on and now it's all on: The Bean adventures in the rainforrest, swims in the creeks, tells all the big dogs off, and has generally taken over our bed, our couches and our hearts. Bert has gone into Big Bruvva overdrive - pretty much every thing is back to its chaotic shambles. We like to think Hank would approve. Andrea, you Super Star. Love Annis, Bert and Bean. The Boiz plan their next naughtiness. * Special shout out to this extraordinary lady that drove the distance for pick up, not wanting to add to any more anxiousness Bean would / could be experiencing. Everyone at D.R.A are wrapped you have a new family member. thank you x Andie

Scott – Sydney

The decision to rehome Scott was not an easy one and it was with many tears that he was handed over to his new owners whilst on his meet and greet. Scott, being up for this new adventure promptly sat on the lap of his new family member on the the drive home and by mid afternoon he was happily playing with his toys in the lounge room. Scotty's settling in period could not have gone better. His social behaviour is starting to improve everyday whilst out on his walks and yesterday, being the election, he behaved beautifully meeting many people and their dogs. Scott is really enjoying his new garden and when he's not lazing arund in the sun, he loves to zoom around ther perimeter at top speed.
