Boston 2 (melbourne)

Boston was a young boy becoming increasingly anxious with a toddler in the home. He wasn't enjoying the full on attention with no safe spot to retreat too. We are pleased to report, Boston is now a wonderful companion for a dachie loving man in the country. A quiet rural location was just what young Boston needed. He never looked back and took to his new home like a duck to water. It's very comforting to see him at ease and relaxed in his new home. Boston has a bright future.

Lenny – Geelong

Lenny is a highly defensive little dachshund but every day he is becoming a bit calmer as he gets used to his new surroundings. He now doesn't over react when the microwave pings and he is getting used to the comings and goings of his new family. Lenny has a beautiful natured older brother who tolerates Lenny's playful behaviour remarkably well considering Lenny is all over him trying to entice him to play. Lenny also has a new dachshund cousin who after the initial bark and carry on is now his BFF when he comes over to play. Lenny loves his daily walks but is highly reactive barking and lunging so we are enlisting the help of a professional trainer to ensure that this activity is enjoyable for all involved.

Pedro – VIC

Pedro's life has had a complete turn around and he is now welcomed inside the family home and also has his little sister Blue to play with. He has learnt the luxuries of indoor sleeping, the couch, having several laps to choose from and if that isnt enough he can wander into the cottage out the back and snuggle up with the resident that lives there! He is adored and cherished by his new owners, and we cant thank Michelle and her family enough for patiently waiting for the right dog to come along that has fit perfectly into their family.

Maple (6 months) sydney

Maples elderly owner was unable to provide the ongoing care a young pup required. She made the selfless decision to engage DRA to find maple her forever home. We thank Maples foster carer's for the road trip and caring for her while we looked for a suitable home. Maple has a "new name" Ruby to start her new life. A wonderful family on the Northern beaches with a gorgeous natured wire dachshund has adopted Ruby. Brodie took Ruby under his wing from the moment she arrived. It's lovely to see the pair share adventures, with lots of outings and walks to cafes in the local areas. Ruby's former owner has been sent updates and it makes her heart sing seeing her so social out and about!

Frankie – QLD

Frankie is a sweet dachshund who has captured her new owners hearts in only a matter of hours. This delightful little girl is learning to use the doggie door and is enjoying spending time exploring the garden and with her new dachshund sibling sister Pepper. The girls have two little dachshund cousins Apple and Miku who come over to visit and play regularly. Frankie and Apple, being around the same age, are able to burn up their spare energy with non stop playing. Frankie is happy to amuse herself with squeeky toys and she enjoys playing fetch as well. Frankie is a stubborn little girl who flat out refuses to listen to her name so her owners are now in discussions deciding on a new one for her. We are sure that Frankie will let them know when they pick the right one!

Freckles – Gold Coast

This delightful little girl Freckles has brought a lot of joy and laughter into her new home. She's already settled into the home and sleeps with her feet up in the air so that's a sure sign she's pretty content. Her new dachshund brother Boris is living in la la land and can't believe his luck that such a pretty little girl has joined the family. Freckles loves to dance and play in the garden and at night has also learnt that sleeping in the same bed as her mum is the way to go. Freckles and Boris love their daily walks where they step out in tune with each other.

Jake 11 months (nsw)

Jake's life has been transformed. We put an urgent call out to get Jake collected from a rural pound. The stars aligned and sent us Emma who was on a mission to rehabilitate Jake. A mercy dash to collect him, he was riddled with fleas, which he kindly shared with Emma. A lovely bath to soothe his troubled skin. To see this young boy now, is remarkable. He looks so happy and healthy. Amazing what a loving home with good food and enrichment will do to a dog's soul. Jake has some new playmates the resident dachshunds have shared and let Jake join their pack. He is besotted with hubby, thank heavens for a mutual love affair. Jake's foster family are definitely foster fails, this dear young boy has found his forever home.

Tobes – Sydney

Young Tobes (Now Toby) was surrendered to DRA after being contacted by the RSPCA. He was found as a stray and unfortunately had to spend several weeks in the shelter to allow his previous owners to come forward. Which did not happen. Toby was certainly ready to start his new life when collected by his adoptive dad, insisting on sitting on his lap on the drive home. On arrival Toby met his new mum and the three kids in the family. Toby is a friendly, happy and playful dachshund and has not looked back. Toby's favourite time of the day is 2.30pm (which he somehow automatically knows) when he walks to the school to bring the kids home for afternoon play. I just wanted to give an update on Tobes, Toby as we call him. We just love him! He is the perfect fit for us. Loves the kids, loves walking to school and has stopped barking at other kids. Absolutely loves car rides, so we take him everywhere we can. Sits on me all day, as I work from home. Is more confident now lay outside in the sun for periods of time by himself. We are currently at a friend's farm and he thinks he's a farm dog, getting round with the other dogs. Loves zooming about the fields. Although we have to keep him on the lead in the cow field to stop him chasing the calves. To his previous owner, you raised him well and must miss him dearly. Know that he is loved with us.
