Winston – NSW
Winston's life has completely changed and he's now a country boy who is living and loving his busy life on the farm. There are many horses who frequent the property and Winston is learning to treat them with the respect that they deserve. The children who visit the farm absolutely adore Winston and he is always ready for some playtime with them. Winston and his new dachshund brother Slinky fast became the best of friends and the boys are never too far away from each other. Now that the nights are cooler Winston and Slinky like to relax at the end of their funfilled days in front of the open fire. Special thanks to their amazing new owners who have been working hard training Winston.
Frankie & Leo # bonded pair melbourne
Best mates Leo and Frankie have been re-mined to central Victoria. Lucky boys are living the dream in a picturesque town. Sarah had and family had adopted through DRA in the past. We are fortunate they have taken on the best mates. This duo is like most dachshunds, they can be very vocal out walking. Regular trips in the car, school run and the shops. There former owner has kept in contact, often thinking of her dachshunds she can see they are adored in there new home!
Bonnie 3yrs Wagga Wagga N.S.W
Bonnie is loving farm life. Going for runs in the paddock with her new dashy bestie Woody, smelling all the smells and telling the border collies who’s boss.
She has settled in to naps on the rug in front of the fire, Sun bathing and has just in the past week learnt how to play.
She has come out of her little shell and is a real sassy Miss. She fits right in 😁
Dachshund Rescue has helped us find our new family member.
and DRA couldn't be happier for you all! Andie x
Oakie, 13mths, Sydney, NSW.
When one of DRA's long term supporters and previous adopters approached us to adopt Oakie, we were so happy that he would be going to a home with another little lookalike called Arlo. Oakie has swapped the city life for a house in the country, and the photos we have received of him wandering down a country lane with his best buddy Arlo has warmed our hearts. He has even learnt to like the Alpacas! These two buddies are provide endless entertainment for Izzy...they chase each other with toys and then decide to do crazy zoomies up and down the house. Thank-you Izzy for adopting Oakie, we hope he brings you and Arlo much love and laughs.
Frankie 10yr Campbelltown N.S.W
* a letter from Frankie.
Dear Andrea
I am sorry I have taken so long to write.
As you know i had a long career as a vet nurse and I recently decided to retire…but what to do?
Well I thought a tree change might be in order and couldn’t be happier with my move to a hobby farm in the southern highlands.
My new buddies Trina, Alfie and Courage have shown me the ropes and I am even now driving the ute to get the hay. Romping across the paddocks each day and making sure those alpacas and piggies are behaving is also my job.
Well gotta go and see what those stupid barn cats are doing.
Love Frankie
Biscuit 1yr2mth & Grace 1yr Gympie QLD
We were searching for a gap to be filled in our lives after our best friend, our former dachshund Magee passed; the family just didn’t feel the same. We saw a beautiful pair Biscuits and Grace on the dachshund rescue facebook page with 200+ likes
But we thought we would give it a shot as we were not too far away. This was our second attempt at adopting a pair by this means, the first fell through through no fault of anyone and we felt supported through the whole process. This time round we felt positive and received notification of a chance to meet the two, so after a 2 hr drive to Gympie
We spent an hr getting to know the two puppies.
We brought our two kids along for the journey,
We all fell in love with two. Biscuit a Shy at first dapple with a heart of gold and Grace a firecracker who loves to cuddle. We took them Home with no issues, they settled in biscuit learning to let us in, now a devoted forever friend who always wants a snuggle and Grace has taken the spot of family protector with the sweetest gestures you would ever see.
They have been with us for 2 months now and they have fully settled in, they rule the roost, we take them on daily walks, they enjoy barking at the neighbours dogs and chasing the kangaroos in the area.
Every one here at Dachshund Rescue Aust. are overwhelmed with joy we could be involved in this beautiful love story. thank YOU x Andie
Mickey 9 months maitland nsw
Young Mickey found himself lonely at home. We are so pleased he is now king of the castle.Mickey is an absolutely gorgeous and friendly dog who recently was rehomed to a loving and safe home with Dale. Mickey loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch with Dale, as well as exploring the backyard and taking in all the sights and smells of his new home. He has quickly become the star of the castle in his new home, as he loves nothing more than giving and receiving love from his family. This young man now has a bright future and lots to enjoy.
Frankfurt 6 adelaide
Frankie has settled in perfectly it feels like he has been here forever. He loves spending time with Taya the blue heeler playing chasey and hide n seek and visiting his dachshund friends Poppy and Hans! Frankie loves his own company and is quite happy napping and of course always searching for the sun. He’s not too keen on walking but we are getting there slowly. Alice Frankfurt's former owner, is relieved to see her boy so happy with Deidre. His anxiety medication has decreased which is a fantastic sign he is happy.
