Benzi 11mths Pakenham VIC
Benzi made our family complete! He came into our world with a BALL of energy (and mischief) which we learnt to embrace. Yes the first couple of weeks were hard, benzi was learning about us and we were learning about him but every single day, he made sure to try his best and made sure to keep improving in every way.
Benzi makes us laugh every single day with his goofy faces and his gorgeous excited wriggle when he’s excited to see us.
Andie and Karan from Dachshund rescue have been so bloody supportive. Not only do they help with finding your new best friend but they were available around the clock for us when ever we had questions or needed advice. We cannot thank them enough for completing our family.

Abby 6 (hunter region) nsw
Abby came to DRA with a large tumour and severe skin condition. A call out for an urgent foster carer. Abby had her guardian angel come forward Serena a local animal loving vet nurse. Abby was a very frightened dachshund when she was collected. Nervous and confused, Abby's response was to bite. Georgie and Charlie the resident dogs had this crazy new dachshund suddenly arrive. Abby is ball driven and will play 24/7. Abby thought Melody the cat was her new game. Melody has her safe spot to retreat too. Serena and Aaron have dedicated a lot of time socialising and training Abby, the big bad world isn't such a scary place. Abby saw the vet and started Apoquel for her skin and a good diet has helped the condition no end. Her coat has been transformed! So far she has had two surgeries, The large mass a tumour was removed. After she recuperated, she required further surgery for her melanomas dark sun spots on her tummy from spending extended time outdoors on concrete. Abby is a feisty girl with lots of personality every op she has she takes in her stride. Abby guardian angels are "foster fails" They have stuck with this often difficult girl who is now a big part of their family. Abby's charm has worked it's magic on extended family who recently had the dogs when they had a holiday. Abby will require further treatments for her melanomas, fortunately for Abby she is well cared for and loved. DRA also thanks Dr Martin at Motto Farm Veterinary Hospital for assisting with Abby's treatment. Abby has Georgie and Charlie to keep her company lots of shenanigans with Abby, been the energiser bunny. The DRA team are very fortunate and grateful Abby has her forever home.xx
Cooper: 1yr 5mth Edmonson Park, N.S.W
After a busy day playing with his new friend Ruby, Cooper is having quiet time
As with most days they are never far apart and loving being together walking playing and eating
When Ruby lost her brother 2 years ago Darren & Julie decided the time was now right to find her a new friend
They approached DRA after searching for the best option for Ruby
"DRA were excellent and easy to deal with. The process was smooth and after arranging the meeting for Ruby to meet Cooper the bond was made and both Ruby and Cooper made the decision they wanted to be together."
Stella 2 (sydney)
We had an urgent call to re home Stella, a distressed owner whose dachshunds had started to fight. DRA had a foster carer collect straightaway to get Stella into a safe, calm home. She took an immediate liking to the daughters in the home. We are very grateful for the love and dedication they put into sweet Stella. DRA had her desexed and all of her vaccinations done. It was apparent Stella would do better in a country location. This young lady really needed company and a quiet spot. We are delighted she has been adopted by a family in the Southern Highlands. Stella is a much more relaxed dachshund. She has some doggy friends to keep her company. Her former owner is happy to see Stella thrive and not live in a state of conflict. Stella is a young girl who has broken a few hearts along the way.
She is an affectionate girl that likes to snuggle and just be with her people.
Gigi – NSW
Gigi is a sweet little girl who is now living her life inside the home with all the compantionship, comforts, love and warmth she deserves. Her playful , cheeky and sometimes naughty personality is starting to come out and she is beginning to enjoy playing with her toys and DRA balls. Gigi loves her early morning walks where she has excitedly met several other dachshunds in the neighbourhood. Gigi has made friends with Pierre who is a rescue cat and together the two like to hangout, relax and sunbathe. She has yet to make friends with Lachlan the other rescue cat and that is a still a work in progress. Luckily though, Gigi is not going anywhere and so there is plenty of time for Lachlan, Pierre and Gigi to become BFF.
