Fritz 5 & Betty 4 & Bonnie 1, 7mths Adelaide S.A

After losing our last dachshund a little over a year ago, we'd been patiently waiting for our chance to adopt some new family members. Little did we know what the universe had in store for us when the next available dogs in Adelaide turned out to be a set of three!! To hear the sound of their little feet on the floor again has bought our family a joy we didn't know we were missing and we've all fallen head over heels in love with them. Whilst we've had a few teething issues (the gang just checking if the pack order needs changing), Fritz, Betty and Bonnie have all settled in even better than we'd hoped, DRA have been there to offer and advice whenever we needed. We're having such a blast getting to know their individual personalities (turns out Betty likes sleeping in the rug, Fritz is pretty sure all the toys are meant for him and you'd best take cover when Bonnie gets the zoomies), and are so grateful for the unconditional love all 3 of them have shown us already. We're excited for the memories and bonds that our kids are making with them and look forward to loving them for years to come. Now we just need to figure out how to pat 3 dachshunds with only 2 hands as they are all insistent that they shouldn't be the one to miss out. And I'm sure we'll get there eventually with walking 3 at once 😆 (but not quite yet). Proof that with a little love and a dash of patience rewards you with endless laughter. Thank you so much for opening your home and hearts to these incredible triplets.

Tinker -WA- Now known as Skylar

Tinker now known as Skylar was surrendered to us at 12 weeks as her owner was too unwell to care for her. We contacted a family living nearby who were able to collect her and take her home. They are a family who are absolutely obsessed with dachsies so they made her feel at home straight away. Young Taj even set up camp next to her bed on the first night so that she wouldn't be afraid. Of course they fell in love instantly and decided to adopt her, She is now living a wonderful life and is often visited by her dachsie Aunt called Millie.

Slinky – QLD

Slinky is a happy boy in his new home and didn't take long at all to settle in and feel at home. Penny the cat wasn't quite sure how to deal with his arrival and took her time to come around but after realising that Slinky was definitely here to stay, she finally decided to join him on the lounge for nap times! The two are now very content in each others company. When mum spreads the newspapers and magazines out on the lounge to read, Slinky likes to help by sitting right on top of them! Slnky also likes to spend time in the garden soaking up the rays and playing with toys, his favourite being pink elephant.

Stripy – Western Australia

Stripy had to be rehomed as he had an altercation with the family's guinea pigs. His new owner has called him Reggie and he has settled down wonderfully well in his new home. His new owner has written her story below. "Losing my little dachshund girl last year left me devastated and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be ready for a new dachshund in my life. Fast forward 9 months, and an application to DRA bought the gorgeous Reggie into my life. Reggie is full of so much love and positive energy. He is sweet, happy and adored by everyone who meets him. He loves our life of park walks, cafe visits and has made so many new doggy friends. But he is most happy at home, chasing a ball, destroying his toys, demanding belly rubs and burying random objects in the garden. He loves to snuggle on the couch or curl up on my lap for a cuddle. I can't thank DRA enough for matching us together, he is the perfect match for me....and I think Reggie is pretty happy too."

Charlie Brown & Moo 1yr 5mths Tamworth N.S.W

Our family has owned but ‘managed’ by, dachshunds for many years. Our last dachshund Milo, crossed the rainbow bridge early this year Thanks to prompting from family, we applied to Dachshund Rescue Australia to adopt not one but two 18mth old boys, being brothers. We cannot speak highly enough about the assistance and understanding of DRA staff especially Andrea and Karan, in making it possible for us to adopt Charlie Brown and Moo. We of course met the folk, who previously had the boys and understand the circumstances of how they became available for rehoming. The care and concern by DRA staff, for the well-being of the family giving up Charlie Brown and Moo, was very much in evidence. I personally had been through the exact same situation, some years ago, with Welsh Corgis and know what heartache is involved in parting with much loved pets. We are very much privileged to have been able to welcome Charlie Brown and Moo, into our home. They have settled in well and have met several of our farm animals and wildlife including Mrs., Bluetongue Mrs. Magpie with interesting results A huge vote of thanks to Dachshund Rescue Australia for making this possible. It is all the more remarkable, that all their work is voluntary. * Charlie Brown & Moo have found a beautiful forever home and all of us DRA are thrilled. thank you
