Phineas – VIC

One year old Phineas is a gorgeous little boy who showers his new owners with so much puppy love. In return Phineas has had a name change to "Kolla" which means 'baby boy' and is the very happy recipient of lots of walks, cuddles, company and attention. Kolla needs a little training when going out on walks as he is a barker but luckily for him, his new owners are happy to put in the training necessary to improve his social skills. Dachshunds bring a lot of joy into their new homes and this little baby boy Kolla has definitely done that and has also made his new family complete. We wish you all the best Kolla!

Zeppelin- Perth

Zeppelin has settled in well into his new home and his new owners are training him to socialize with other dogs. As he is a very sociable boy, he found it very hard being left alone for 12 hours a day due to his owners increase in work commitments. Being such a people friendly boy, Zepp immediately made friends with his new owners at the Meet and Greet and he went to his forever home that day. His Mum loves sewing projects and since he likes to burrow under a blanket, she found a sleeping bag that she can make for him thanks to (Pinterest).

Ollie 6 months sydney

DRA was contacted to assist in re-homing Ollie. Sadly his owner was facing serious medical challenges. As Ollie was only 6 months it was important to get him in with another dachshund to show him the 'ropes' Ollie has a lovely temperament he now has Sassy to keep him company. These two bonded quickly. The young couple that adopted Ollie had previously submitted an adoption application. It was a perfect match when they had a meet up with Ollie and his former owner. Sassy and Ollie are social dachshunds ready to explore. This playful pair are great company and playmates.

Fuji – Newcastle NSW

Fuji came in to DRA as he was showing signs of jealousy towards the 3 other dachshunds in the home. Fuji was desperate to be the centre of attention and his wish has come true in his new home. Fuji and his new owner are a match made in heaven. They have a wonderful routine of breakfast, short walk then later on a drive to the oval for a longer walk. In the afternoon Fuji takes himself off to the other house on the property to visit the extended family and their labrador Marley. Late afternoons Marley and Fuji help feed the wild birds at the end of the garden. After such busy days, Fuji likes to sleep in his owners bed with his ears spread out, head on the pillow, nose to nose with his owner. Fuji has been described as the most gorgeous and sweetest dachshund who has brought a lot of joy to his new family and it's suffice to say that Fuji is one very very happy dachshund.

Percy – Brisbane

Percy didn't take long at all to settle into his new home. In fact at the first meet and greet he had already won the hearts of his dedicated new owners. Percy is enjoying going on lots of walks at the beach and local dog parks. His social behaviour is getting better on each walk due to the ongoing training that he is receiving from his owners. Percy is a smart boy and a quick learner who thrives on praise. Percy is learning to live with Cruise the cat and also has a new little dachshund sister called Stella who is always ready to play.

Herbie & Garlic – NSW

Herbie and Garlic came in to DRA for rehoming after we were contacted by the wonderful people at the RSPCA who had retrieved them from a puppy mill. Although we were not expecting to rehome them together, a beautiful family who came forward for Garlic decided to also adopt Herbie as well. Herbie and Garlic came from horrific conditions with no interaction or kindness from humans. Herbie and Garlic are now living on a rural property with another dachshund Otis who is helping them to gain their confidence and show them that their new family are loving and kind. Slowly and surely they are starting to come out of their shells. Garlic being a little bit more confident is now happy for a few pats and will allow the grandchildren to lie next to him. Herbie is a curious little girl but when things get a little overwhelming she will retreat back to her safe zone. Everyday Garlic and Herbie are being exposed to new things such as watching Otis have a bath and spending time with the cats. With the guidance and patience of their new owners we are hopeful that these beautiful little souls will one day be able to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a loved dachshund.
