Pinot (2) Swansea peninsula nsw
“After losing my 17 year old dachshund early this year I have been heartbroken. I feel the universe has sent me Pinot as he is slowly helping me recover from my heartbreak and grief.
Pinot is like a little pocket rocket with so much love to give. It was love at first sight for us, he is so mini, cute and has a crazy character. He has the cutest little quirks that melt my heart. He has fitted into our family so well like he has always lived with us. Both my partner and I work from home so he loves that we can spend all day with him. He has so much fun during our lunchtime walks. He also
loves standing on our pool deck barking at the birds and sun-baking. He is loving his new Gold
Coast lifestyle.
My immediate family owns dachshunds so he has loved mingling with his new dachshund brothers and sisters. Pinot has been the perfect addition to our family and can’t imagine life without him. “
Hugo – VIC
Hugo is a loving dachshund who has bonded with his new owner in only a matter of days. Hugo has a new dachshund brother Pickles and the boys enjoy their rumbles, tumbles and playtime. When Pickles has had enough, he takes himself off for some time out and Hugo seeks his new owners lap for cuddles. Hugo suffers from some skin conditions and needs to put on some weight so will be receiving a care package shortly with some Rose Hip Vital to help imporove his overall wellbeing.
Maggie: 8 mth, Islington, N.S.W
After suddenly losing our much loved rescue dachshund Milli last year, we were very much missing her love and cuddles. Our house seemed so quiet and empty. So after 10 years, we approach DRA again for another opportunity to give a little girl a forever home.
I am very glad to say we were lucky enough to be offered Kiwi (now Maggie) a little 9-month-old chocolate Dachshund. It was love at first sight for all of us. But just as a dachshund typically does, she initially barked at us. Then it was all cuddles and kisses from there on. Once at home, Maggie explored the house and yard and then settled in as though she had lived here forever. That night she just curled up in her bed and we never heard a peep from her until the next morning.
My wife and I are not the only ones that are in love with this little girl, our little granddaughters are just as much in love. They are constantly asking to go and see Maggie, who is always excited to greet them by bouncing and running circles around them ready to play.
The last 2 weeks with Maggie has just been so wonderful. As we are both retired, we can spend the days with her ensuring she becomes familiar with her new home.
We would like to thank Maggie's first parents for effort they put into training her, she is just perfect with only a little work to be done at the doggie parks.
Lastly I must give a very big thank you to Andie (DRA) for giving us the opportunity to give Maggie a new forever home, we will be forever grateful!
everyone at D.R.A are overjoyed with this happily ever after. ax
Figgy, 5yrs 3mths, Melbourne, VIC.
Figgy's new owners sadly had the heartbreak of losing their previous little dachshund to complications following IVDD surgery, so Figgy has been just what they have needed to help heal their hearts. They are now all enjoying daily beach walks, snuggles on the couch in front of the tv and Figgy is loving having a a border collie as his big brother. Figgy also has a severe allergy to bee's, so we are thrilled that his new owners both work in Veterinary fields and have the expertise to manage his condition should he be stung.
Peach 2 & Snickers 2 (Morton bay QLD)
Peach and Snickers found themselves in need of a forever home when their owner was unable to care for them.
DRA had snickers desexed, the search was on for a suitable home.
This bonded duo have had some ongoing anxiety, not making it an easy task for their new owner Ryan.
Dee from Pawsome Dog training has been to see the vocal pair to help reinforce a good long term training schedule for them. We are very appreciative of new adopters that put in the effort when a dog is taking time to settle in. We do think the pair had a fairly sheltered life before they were surrendered. Now getting them used to the day to day challenges of being inside a home. Learning new manners.
Poppy – QLD
At ten years old it was no fault of Poppy's that she found herself needing to be adopted. She has taken the move in her stride though and has settled in remarkably well.
Poppy has two new furry siblings being another dachshund and labrador whom she likes to boss around. Poppy's new human sister has kindly jotted down the following which highlight Poppy's new life.
Poppy likes to help clean the dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
She snuggles up to me in bed and gives me kisses.
She loves her walks and going to the beach.
She loves to chase other dogs' balls at the beach.
She sits and cuddles me under the blanket with me all the time.
She is an excellent nurse when I'm upset
Poppy likes to see the other dogs when they wake up and go outside with them.
The residents that she visits in the nursing home love her.
Poppy is thriving in her new life. Thank you to her new family for welcoming her into her new home. We wish you all the very best 🙂
Olive, 7yrs, Geelong, Vic.
When we were contacted by Olives owners, our hearts went out to them and we knew we had to find a special home for Olive. Olive had developed severe allergies in the house that they are living, and her owners had exhausted all avenues trying to treat and maintain Olives skin. They felt that they had no other option but to see if a different environment would be Olives saving grace. Once we profiled Olive, a lovely couple stepped up and said they would be willing to keep treating Olive in the hope that their house would not have the same allergies....it was a gamble and it paid off! Olives skin has improved immensely, and she is now being able to spend her days inside cuddling up with her new owners on the couch. She loves waking up in he morning and in Olives sweet way she demands a morning belly rub. She has a very cute howl when emergency sirens go past! They are including her on regular outings to their place of work at a nursing home, and she is a favourite with some of the residents gently receiving pats and treats. Once again, thank you to all of our amazing adopters, you have changed these dogs lives and we are forever grateful for you choosing a rescue dachshund.
